Osweago Rotary's "Big Spin" Campaign!

Osweago Middle School needs a 10 mega-watt wind turbine to slash their energy costs and save their shrinking school funds budget.

Wind turbines cost a lot up front, but the downwind payback can help our school system to survive the economic downturn and the recently announced state funds cutbacks for education.

We've had anemometers running on the hill above the school yard for the past year now to measure the quality, consistency and direction of the wind up there to see if this turbine would do what we hope it will. We got the report last month from Top of Iowa Wind Engineers, Inc. We've got GREAT wind out there by the middle school. Let's get on up there and tap that power!

The challenge is huge; the cost to purchase, install, and maintain a wind turbine is not trivial. But, when has Osweago Rotary ever hung back when the need was great and the job was tough? We're in this for our kids and we want you to join us.

The first fundraiser for our Big Spin project is selling soywax candles. Contact anyone of the folks you know who belong to Osweago Rotary and order up a batch of these great candles. Tell all your friends to do the same and send e-mails to every other Rotary member you know across the country. We need us all to get behind this worthy project.

Think of it -- if only 3 Rotarians from every single Rotary in the US comes to our fundraiser website and buys a single candle -- we'll have that turbine up and running by start of the school year 2010.
